I have been thinking about doing another read. It will be my 23rd since the late 1970s. I am looking forward to this.

I just finished the story for my umpteenth reading since 1972ish. Yesterday as the parties were separating for the last time and the 3 rings were described it occurred to me to wonder why rings? Why not amulets or bracelet charms, etc. What was the unique significance in them being rings? Aside from Lord of the Bracelets sounding much less impressive. I also thought this must have been discussed already somewhere and I dont know the lore. I hope to participate in the read through. Thank you.

Love this idea! I’ve been talking about rereading LOTR this year so this is perfect timing.

I'm in! This will be perfect timing as I wrap up On Fairy Stories and Mythopoeia before starting LotR (I'm following Tea With Tolkien's reading order & checklist). It will be a Fellowship to remember!👣

I have been wanting to reread through it for years, but my love of Lewis & Tolstoy has unfortunately diverted me. I'm excited to be jumping in with you and your readers ❤️

This would be for the trilogy?

Yes, the whole story of LOTR

Are you looking to only read Fellowship with friends or the full journey? And what would you say to how long you may see this through?

We will be reading the full journey (Fellowship, Two Towers and Rotk) and I am thinking about a year. Slow but steady so we can soak it in.

Does anyone have recommendations for editions that are good for annotating?

I am using this, the paper is thick enough:
